PHOTOS OF SIKA DEER
This sika doe's face shows her thick winter coat - even here in Florida.

The sika face is shorter, wider and more compact than the whitetail's.
This sika buck was appalled when he realized that he was running toward me and my camera behind a tree.

He cut off at a 90 degree angle and sprang away.

Here he is, bounding away...springing from all four legs at once. This is called stotting. Like the doe on the previous page, he has erected his rump hairs in alarm, while keeping his tail tucked.

Even without his antlers you could tell it's fall because of his swollen neck of the rut, his heavy neck mane and his shaggy winter coat.
