WILD BOAR | |
HOGS (Sus scrofa) are not native to the Americas. They originated in Eurasia, and over time there were several major importations to North America. The pure Eurasian "Russian" wild boar is also Sus scrofa. In fact, our domestic varieties were all derived from the wild Eurasian boars. Wild hogs in the US strictly speaking are feral, that is, domestics that have reverted to the wild, but even though there are hundreds of variations, there is still a true, identifiable, wild hog type. | |
