The grass in our field looks like a golf course because these deer are grazing it thoroughly. |

The red deer on the right is smaller, darker and redder than the young elk
hybrid. He also appears to have something bothering his ears...some
sort of insects no doubt. |

Now, in mid summer, the bulls are all in velvet and still sociable. |

This one's antlers look webbed and thick with velvet. He's got a lot of growing to do yet. |

These antlers are pointed at the tips and are fully grown. They'll rub out in the next few weeks. |

Then this peaceful scene will become bugling (elk) and roaring (red deer), challenges and fighting. |
